Setting Up Custom Email with Raven

Note: This feature is in active development and is coming soon.

Raven will allow you to set up custom email addresses on your domain by providing two primary services:

  • Email Forwarding: Raven can forward incoming emails to specified addresses to another email address you own.
  • Outgoing SMTP Server: Raven provides an outgoing SMTP server that can be used to send emails.

How Email Forwarding Works

With email forwarding, any incoming emails to your custom domain (e.g., you@yourdomain.com) will be forwarded to the external email address of your choice (e.g., you@gmail.com). This way, you can use a familiar email client while maintaining a professional address on your domain.

Steps to Set Up Email Forwarding:

  1. Log in to your Raven dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the "Email Settings" section.
  3. Enter your custom email address and specify the external address to which emails will be forwarded.
  4. Save your settings.

Example Setup:

  • Custom Address: you@yourdomain.com
  • Forward to: you@gmail.com

Outgoing SMTP Server

The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is used to send emails. Raven will provide an outgoing SMTP server that can be configured in your email client. This allows you to send emails directly from your custom address.

Details for Configuring SMTP Server:

  • Server: smtp.websiteraven.com
  • Port: 587 (TLS) or 465 (SSL)
  • Username: Your full custom email address (e.g., you@yourdomain.com)
  • Password: Your Raven email password

Steps to Set Up Outgoing SMTP Server:

  1. In your email client, find the SMTP server settings.
  2. Enter the SMTP server details provided above.
  3. Test sending an email to ensure everything works.

Checking Your Emails

Raven does not store your emails; it only forwards them to the external address you've specified. To check your emails:

  • Use the email client provided by your external email provider (e.g., Gmail, Outlook).
  • Set up your custom email address in your external client if needed.
